After two punk albums, The Jam went on to make a conventional rock album. Though only a three-piece band, All Mod Cons sounds rich with good arrangments. Punk was retained here with "Billy Hunt" and "'A' Bomb in Wardour Street", and Paul Weller's songwriting capability is heard on "To Be Someone", "In the Crowd" and "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight".
