18. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)

Recorded in four tracks, this album has always been the top choice of critics. After tired of touring, The Beatles announced they would record an album to top all the toppers. At that time, they had grown out of R&B and rock and roll and had explored Hammond organ, strings, brass and even sitar. From the orchestra tune up on the opening "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" till the forty-piece orchestration on the final "A Day in the Life", this album is undoubtedly the greatest psychedelic/progressive rock album ever made.
