34. The Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground and Nico (1967)

What made this album great is that an avant-garde album can still sound so tuneful. At the time of its release, It has a chill sound which is pretty much in contrast with the warm blues rock sound of the psychedelic era. It was a good combination of John Cale's experimental production and Lou Reed's catchy songs, most notably heard on "All Tomorrow's Party" and "Venus in Furs". Some tracks were sung by Lou Reed and some by Nico. Not only Reed's monotone vocal later forged the new wave singing style, Nico's amateurish singing style was equally insiring.
