9. Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding (1967)


This is where Bob Dylan shunned psychedelic and created country rock. "All Along the Watchtower" was made famous by Jimi Hendrix. On this album, Dylan used shorter lines for his lyrics but every line meant something. According to Beat Generation poet Allen Ginsberg, there was no wasted language and all the imagery was to be functional rather than ornamental.
